Grainger Foundation Supports Connecticut Food Bank

WALLINGFORD, CONN., May 12, 2016 – The Grainger Foundation, an independent, private foundation located in Lake Forest, Illinois, has donated $10,000 to the Connecticut Food Bank, Inc., in support of its hunger fighting mission.

 

“This grant will be used to support the Connecticut Food Bank Kids’ BackPack program that helps bridge the weekend meal gap for children who receive free or reduced-price lunches at school,” said Beverly Catchpole, Connecticut Food Bank Director of Fund Development Operations.  “We are grateful to The Grainger Foundation for its generosity.”

 

The Connecticut Food Bank Kids’ BackPack program currently serves 3,300 children in 22 school districts.

 

This donation was recommended by Karen Archambault, Branch Manager of W.W. Grainger, Inc.’s, North Haven location.  Grainger has been a part of the region’s business community for more than 56 years as the leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair, and operating products.  “We are proud to recommend the programs offered by the Connecticut Food Bank,” said Archambault.  “We understand the need for helping children get the nutrition they need to grow and learn.”

 

The Grainger Foundation, an independent, private foundation based in Lake Forest, Illinois, was established in 1949 by William W. Grainger, founder of W.W. Grainger, Inc.
