Founded in New Haven in 1982, the Connecticut Food Bank distributes enough food each year in six Connecticut counties to provide an average of 19 million meals. The food bank distributes that food through a network of community based programs, including soup kitchens, food pantries, residential programs and day programs that serve seniors and adults. The Connecticut Food Bank also distributes food through its Mobile Pantry service, GROW Up With Good Nutrition program and Kids’ BackPack program. Connecticut Food Bank member programs see an average of 150,000 visits each month.

“Nearly half a million people in Connecticut struggle with hunger,” Beaudreau said, “and more than 140,000 children are food insecure. Together, we can help people who are struggling to meet this most basic of needs.”
