Volunteer Receptionists are needed at the Connecticut Food Bank Wallingford headquarters, located at 2 Research Parkway. Receptionists greet visitors and direct traffic to the appropriate departments. The lobby receptionist will also handle some simple computer projects and light work such as folding, stuffing or collating mailing materials, alphabetizing and filing forms, etc.
Opportunities are available immediately.

Skilled Data Entry Volunteer needed to help our procurement team in Wallingford. The procurement staff is responsible for sourcing large food donations from food growers, producers and retailers. The team is looking for someone able to work with database and spreadsheet programs. The volunteer’s responsibilities would include working with detailed information to be entered into our systems and helping to generate reports for the team. The ability to create and work with pivot tables is highly desirable. Training will be provided for the specialized software the Food Bank uses for these tools. The selected volunteer must also be willing to make and answer phone calls to obtain information related to department operations. Weekday Food Sorters are needed at our Wallingford distribution center to sort donated food items which include non-perishable items, fresh fruits and vegetables and frozen meat products. All donated food must be carefully sorted and checked for expiration dates and other product damage before it can be distributed to the food pantries, soup kitchens and other feeding programs we serve in six Connecticut counties. Many hands are needed on a weekly basis to keep the flow of food moving to those who need it. Shifts are available from 9:00 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. To volunteer click here and sign up for your first shift. Corporate Group volunteering, Wallingford – Need a weekday group activity for your team? Volunteer to sort food at our Wallingford warehouse at 2 Research Parkway. A three-hour weekday morning session or a two-hour afternoon session can be arranged for you and your team to assist with sorting frozen meat, nonperishable items and fresh produce.
