The Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center in New London is a subsidiary distribution organization (SDO) of Connecticut Food Bank. The Food Center, created in 1988, is a coalition of the Labor Movement of Southeastern Connecticut and the United Way. It operates as it own entity, receiving food from CFB as well as relying on food and monetary donations from local residents, organizations, and companies.

In 2006, the Food Center distributed 1,739,176 pounds of food to more than eighty food-assistance programs throughout New London County, including soup kitchens, shelters, residential rehab programs, and programs for victims of abuse, the elderly, children and teens.

Warehouse/Office Location

The Food Center is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for agency shopping, donations, and volunteer help.
