Governor Malloy Tours Connecticut Food Bank

Governor Dannel P. Malloy toured Connecticut Food Bank’s East Haven warehouse today to see first-hand the challenges the organization has in meeting the needs of Connecticut families who struggle with hunger.  Connecticut Food Bank’s President & CEO Nancy L. Carrington welcomed the Governor and led the tour of the facility, providing Malloy a glimpse into the day-to-day operation of the food bank. Connecticut Food Bank was founded in 1982 and has been serving the state for 30 years.  It is the largest source of emergency food in Connecticut and now distributes 33 tons of groceries, the equivalent of 55,000 meals, every single business day.  Last year, the Food Bank served approximately 300,000 individuals, including more than 100,000 children. The organization also has warehouses in Fairfield and Waterbury, and affiliate distribution centers in Stamford and New London.
