STRATFORD, CONN., July 12, 2016 – Sample locally brewed craft beer, popular area food truck cuisine and enjoy the great outdoors at the Two Roads Brewing Company Hop Yard at Hops for Hunger, an event to benefit the Connecticut Food Bank, on Sunday, August 14, from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. The event will also feature brewery tours and lawn games. Admission is $55 per person or $100 per couple. Tickets and more information are available at www.ctfoodbank.org/hopsforhunger.

In addition to the food, drink and activities, radio partner iHeart Radio will provide music and Renee DiNino of iHeart Radio will be on site. The event will also feature a silent auction.

“We are looking forward to a fun afternoon,” said Connecticut Food Bank Engagement Coordinator Kerri Burgerhoff. “It’s a great opportunity to sample some local flavors and to help out our neighbors who struggle with hunger.”

As of July 11, Burgerhoff said, Food Trucks committed for the event include The Meat Truck, a gourmet sandwich truck; Tipsy Cones, an ice cream truck featuring bartender style flavors; and Zuppardi’s Apizza, featuring New Haven style pizza.

Auction items at the event will include gift certificates for popular restaurants, fishing charters, jewelry, sports experiences, food and wine items and more.

The Connecticut Food Bank provides food to people in need through a network of community based programs in six Connecticut counties. Last year, the food bank distributed enough food to produce more than 19.2 million meals.

“The funds raised at Hops for Hunger will help us to continue providing the fresh, nutritious food that people need,” Burgerhoff said. More than 35% of the food distributed last year by the Connecticut Food Bank was fresh produce. “Fresh, food, dairy products and frozen meat are important nutritionally for families and they are often out of reach for people who are food insecure. We are helping ensure healthier outcomes for people and helping children get the food they need to learn and grow.”

Hops for Hunger is Sunday, August 14, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Two Roads Brewing Company, 1700 Stratford Avenue in Stratford. Admission is $55 per person or $100 per couple. Proceeds will benefit the Connecticut Food Bank. Admission is limited only to persons aged 21 or older. Tickets and information are available at www.ctfoodbank.org/hopsforhunger. Radio partner for the event is iHeart Radio.
